  1. Make batter of idli.miix all ingredients..thick consistency
  2. Keep it aside
  3. Prepare potato stuffing.take oil in pan..crackle sarso seeds(optional)
  4. Saute onion a little.dont fry till golden brown
  5. Add boiled and mashed potatoes.
  6. Add salt and spices
  7. Let it cool
  8. Make cylinder….around half the size of steel glass
  9. Brush a steel glass(tumbler) with oil
  10. Meanwhile boil water in kadai
  11. Take batter….and add eno…whip it…it will double it's quantity
  12. Now pour 1 tablespoon batter in glass…tap a little. Stand the potato cylinder
  13. Fill it with batter…around 3/4th of glass
  14. Stand the glass in kadai..cover the kadai.. or pan with a lid.. so that steam does not escape
  15. Steam for 10-12 minutes
  16. Check with tooth pick.. if it is ready….
  17. Let it cool…demould the glass and cut it in pieces
  18. Serve with green chutney, coconut chutneey or sambhar…
  19. Or if you want tadka…take oil in pan crackle mustard seeds..add salt and spices.little water let it boil.. roll the cylinder…without cuttting to coat it with tadka…then cut and serve
